Basic Profile:
Yuna is the heroine of Final Fantasy X. Yuna is greatly contrasted with Tidus. Yuna's name means "Night" in Okinawan, while Tidus' means "Sun."
Yuna is a woman who is following in her father's footsteps. Her dream is to become a summoner, and when you first meet her ingame, that is exactly what she had accomplished. Being a summoner, Yuna is able to summon various different creatures that are able to aid her in battle and protect her. Along with this, she also brings hope to the people of Spira, as summoners are the only ones who are able to defeat the creature known as Sin and bring forth the Calm, or a time of peace where Sin does not cause destruction on the world.
When Tidus meets Yuna, she is beginning a pilgrimage. On this Pilgrimage Yuna hopes to gain the strength to be able to summon the Final Aeon and defeat Sin, but in order to do this she must pray at every temple along the way throughout Spira and gain the powers of even more Aeons.
On her quest to do so, Yuna must be accompanied by guardians, those being Wakka, Lulu, and Kimahri - three individuals who she has known almost her entire life.

Yuna was born in Bevelle as the daughter to High Summoner Braska, the same man who defeated Sin ten years previously. Braska was a man who had married an Al Bhed woman. As a result of this, Yuna has heterochromatic, one eye being Green while the other is Blue.
Yuna's mother died early on and she was left only with her father, Braska. At a young age, around seven, Braska went on a pilgrimage in order to defeat Sin. We all know what happened there - he sacrificed himself to summon the Final Aeon.
When Yuna heard the news she was in Bevelle. Being orphaned there was one being who was around, that being non other than Kimahri Ronso. Though he wasn't able to offer too many words to help the young girl, he did take her in and took her to the small island area, Besaid. There she grew up with both Wakka and Lulu, as well as Wakka's brother, Chappu, until he went off to fight against Sin.
Yuna lived peacefull in Besaid until she decided to become a Summoner and bring hope to people.
When Yuna first becomes a summoner, a man named Tidus shows up in town. Yuna doesn't think a whole lot of this at first, but he does end up journying with her, Wakka, and Lulu to Kilika and Luca. Yuna eventually confronts both Wakka and Lulu and tells them she wants Tidus to become one of her guardians, which he eventually does.
During her journey, Yuna also gets two more guardians - Auron, who was also a guardian for her father ten years previously as well as her Al Bhed cousin, Rikku.
Yuna is faced with a pretty difficult decision in the game. Seymour, one of the Masesters of Yevon and also a Guado man, asks Yuna for her hand in marriage. He claims that it will bring the people of Spira together for a short time seeing the man and the summoner getting married. Yuna wants to do it to bring happiness to the people of Spira, but at the same time, she does only want to marry for love, which she would not feel if she was with Seymour.
Yuna contemplates the whole thing for awhile until she finds a sphere from Lord Jyscal, Seymour's father, as he comes out of the farplane for an instant. This video Sphere shows that Seymour had murdered his father. This makes Yuna think of a plan - that she will tell Seymour she accepts his offer, but ultimately she will stop him from gaining anymore power. But, she keeps this a secret from her friends.
The party eventually fights against Seymour and Yuna does her captured by the man. At this time, Tidus learns of the true job a summoner - that when he/she summons the Final Aeon, it would mean they would die.
Yuna is forced into Marriage with Seymour, however, the party does appear and saves Yuna.
Around this time, Yuna and Tidus fall in love with each other.
Later, in Zanarkand, Yuna learns from Lady Yunalesca about what happens when the Final Aeon is summoned - That the summoner must use one of her guardians as a sacrifice. Yuna will not have it and Lady Yunalesca tries to kill her and her guardians, but the party does, instead, end up defeating Yunalesca.
Without any other way, they venture inside of Sin to Kill Yu Yevon. At the end of the game, Yuna learns that Tidus is the fayth's dream. They are both in love, but there is no way they can be together.
