Name: Tidus Age: 17 Height: 5'9" Weapon: Longswords Ability: Time Magic (Note, it is 'white magic' in game, but Tidus' main speciality is still Time Related magic like Slow and Haste.)
Basic Profile: Tidus is the protagonist of Final Fantasy X and the character you have control of throughout a vast majority of the game.
When the game begins Tidus is getting ready for a Blitzball torunament. Being the star player for the Zanarkand Abes, Tidus has tons of fans cheering him on. The game seems to go well, however, in the middle of it a strange being attacks. Tidus meets with a man afterwards by the name of Auron where he finds out that this being is known as "Sin." The two of them fight through Sin and the 'Sinspawn' where eventually Auron uses Sin to lead Tidus to 'another world.'
Tidus wakes up shortly after the events in a strange abandonded place in a new world known as "Spira."
Being in Spira utterly confuses Tidus - the world is so much different than his hometown, Zanarkand. The people must put up with Sin and just about everything seems different. The only thing Tidus is able to take a slight comfort in is that the people of Spira seem to love Blitzball.
While in Spira Tidus meets with a young summoner named Yuna. Not having anywhere else to go or anything else to do, Tidus decided to journey with Yuna, hoping that he'll find a way home eventually.

---
Tidus is an interesting character for the fact that, even if many would not know it, he goes through a rather dramatic transformation in character. His personality basically does an entire turn around - he starts out as a selfish brat and ends up as a selfless hero, so-to-speak. Though, compared to many Final Fantasy heros from the past, Tidus is very bright and cheerful. He never gets angsty or regrets anything compared to both Cloud Strife and Squall Leonhart from previous installments of the series.
The opening scenes of Final Fantasy X Shows one of the many cutscenes which are featured throughout the game. During this cutscene Tidus speaks the lines, "Listen to my story, this may be our last chance." This sort of indicates that up until the point of the game where this cutscene is played again outside of Zanarkand, that Tidus is narrirating the story.
Of course, everyone knows what happens in the beginning of the game - Tidus gets ready for a blitzball tournament, which is actually a memorial game which is in honor of Jecht, the previous start of the Zanarkand Abes who had gone missing ten years prior, and also Tidus' father. Tidus couldn't really care less, besides the fact that he wants nothing more than to Surpass Jecht in blitzball, which makes him push himself to be the most successful blitzball player.
We all know what happens during the tournament - Sin attacks and basically destroys the city. Thanks to Auron's help, an old friend of Jecht's that had promised the said man to take care of Tidus if anything were to happen to him, Tidus manages to escape the city, only to find himself into a strange new land known as Spira. Spira is totally different than the world Tidus had come from. Zanarkand was a very technologically advanced city that relied on machines and various other devices as such, and Spira was a land that was basically in ruins with very few small towns, few machines (Besides those used by the Al Bhed), and it was full of people suffering. This confused Tidus. He had no idea how he had managed to be drug into the city, only that Auron had dissappeared and he was in a new place.
Tidus meets with a young girl by the name of Rikku. Tidus learns that she is a member of the Al Bhed race, or a race of people who use technology and machines in Spira when it is completely prohibited by the religion of the world, Yevon. Tidus learns from her that the city Tidus had came from, Zanarkand, was destroyed 1000 years in the past by Sin, and that ever since then the people have been trying to repent for their 'Sins,' and in order to do that, they do not use technology. This leaves Rikku, and the rest of the Al Bhed hated by the vast majority of the people in Spira.
This leaves Tidus even more confused as he knew that he came from Zanarkand, but it was destroyed? Later on, Tidus finds himself on Besaid Island. There he meets with Wakka, a blitzball captain. This thrills Tidus as he finally had found something he recognizes. Also there Tidus meets with the young summoner Yuna. As he meets her, he also meets with Yuna's other guardians - Lulu and Kimahri.
Wakka suggests to Tidus that since he is into Blitzball, he might find someone in Luca, where a large blitzball tournament is being held, that he knows and would be able to go back to where he had come from. So, Tidus decided to join the Summoner and her guardians on her pilgrimage. Of course, Tidus doesn't meet with anyone he knows in Luca, but he does find a familar face - Auron.
Auron tells Tidus something strange - that his father, Jecht, the same man who had dissappeared from Zanarkand, was now Sin. This shocked and confused Tidus even more, and for awhile, he was in a state of denial, but eventually as he encountered Sin a few more times and became a bit more aware about the world arround him, he started to believe what Auron had told him - Jecht was, infact, Sin.
Slowly, Tidus continued to learn about the world around him. His questions about the 'Destroyed Zanarkand from 1000 years old,' How Jecht became Sin, and the real goal of a Summoner's pilgrimage are answered. The answers to these questions, however, were not exactly what the young man was expecting, especially about the Summoner's pilgrimage and the Final Aeon.
Tidus was outraged when he learned about the whole ordeal with the Final Aeon - The final aeon is not a normal aeon, but one that is created using a sacficie. The sacrifice is someone close to the summoner. The two MUST share a close bond and then, and only then, can Sin be defeated. When a Summoner summons the Final Aeon, not only is the sacficies life 'lost,' but the summoner also dies along with them. Not only that, but the sacrifice doesn't really die, but rather, they become the next Sin. There is a small amount of peace - sometimes a few months, sometimes as much as ten years - known as the calm that comes about through these sacrifices, but later on, Sin will always be born for Yu Yevon is still alive.
Tidus wouldn't let Yuna dies this way, and decided he was going to find another way to free Spira from Sin and save her at the same time.
Around that time Tidus also learned of his fate from the Fayth. Both him and his father, Jecht, were not actually 'real' human brings, but rather dreams of the fayth. Everything in the Zanarkand that Tidus knew was not actually real. 1,000 years in the past there was a war between Bevelle and Zanarkand. The outlook for the large city was not looking good. Yevon was the leader of the city didn't want it to be destroyed. Even though he knew that it would never be the same as the original, he crafted the city of Zanarkand in a memory to preserve its glory. The remaining people from the destroyed Zanarkand became fayth up on Mt. Gagazet. These people's memories were put together to form the new Zanarkand. As well as that, the reason Yu Yevon created Sin was to protect the Fayth up in Mt. Gagazet in order to protect Zanarkand, and to destroy any Machina in the world in order to prevent the people on Spira from discovering his dream Zanarkand. In doing this, Yevon became a bit mindless, and was no longer a human. All he cared about was preserving his dream Zanarkand.
Tidus also learns from them that he needed to find a way to defeat Sin for good. To do this, he would need to defeat Yu Yevon. However, the truth was that if he were to do that, Tidus, and all of the Zanarkand he knew, would dissappear.
When the group reaches Zanarkand, Yunalesca appears and tells Yuna she must summon the Final Aeon, to do this she would need a sacrifice. Yuna refuses and Yunalesca attempts to kill them all. The party ends up killing Yunalesca.
The group then decided on another way to defeat Sin - and this time, to do it perminatly. The group goes inside of Sin and meets with Jecht. Tidus and Jecht meet face-to-face for the first time in ten years and have quite an emotional reunion, especially when Tidus learns that he must defeat Jecht in order to defeat Sin and Yu Yevon. The group does so and then, eventually, defeat Yu Yevon deep inside of Sin.
After this happens, Tidus tells everyone, as he starts to fade away, that he won't be able to be there anymore. Yuna does not like this and tries to embrace him - for the two had fallen in love - but they can not touch since Tidus is fading. Afterwards, Tidus runs off the side of the airship and meets with Braska, Jecht, and Auron. He then was in the farplane with them.
