Basics Of Blitzball
These are various terms which you will need to understand in order to get the most out of your Blitzball expirence.
Hit Points (HP) - In Blitzball this simply indicates the character's stamina so-to-speak. Any player of the sport while in possession of the ball will consume HP over time. If HP reaches 0 they will be unable to act anymore. Actually, it's fairly difficult for all HP to be depleted as when the character doesn't have the ball anymore they will begin to regenerate their lost HP.
Speed (SP) - Speed is basically how quick the player is in the game. The higher the Speed the better!
Salary - This is the amount of Gil that a player is payed before they take part in a game of Blitzball. Whenever you recruit players for your team you must sign a contract. In this contract it will state how much Gil they will take per game. This comes out of your own pocket!
Level - This is basically just the player's level due to expirence in the game. The higher it is the better they are at Blitzball.
Endurance (EN) - Basically this is the defense of the player. When going up against an opponent, the player will need to have high endurance to withstand the attacks of the opposite team while in possession of the ball. If the attack of the opponent attacking is higher than the player's Endurance, they will loose the ball and the opposing team will gain control. Watch out for this!
Pass (PA) Just like most other sports games in real life, such as Basketball, Blitzball allows characters to pass the ball to a teammate. The Pass stat basically indicates how far the player in control of the ball can throw it over to a teammate. For example, if the player in possession of the ball has "5" for a pass stat and tries to throw it to a player on the other side of the court, they will fumble and the player who they passed it to will not catch the ball and the opposing team will take control of it.
Shoot(SH) This is much like the pass stat except that it's going to shoot a goal. This is also measured against the Block stat of the goalie. If the player shoots from a far distance and only a small number is left on the shoot stat which is less than the goalie's block stat, the player will miss the goal and the ball will go into the possession of the opposing team.
Attack(AT) - This is basically how strong a player is and the intensity they can tackle the other player. This goes up gainst the Endurance Stat.
Block(BL) - This basically calls how likely it is for a player to get in between shots and passes by the opponent team. It goes up against Shoot and Pass.
Catch(CA) - This is all for the goalie! The higher the catch stat, the better the chances they have for catching the balls shot at the goals!
